Elyria, OH – Jason Mayo, 46, of Elyria, was arrested on June 18, 2025, for aggravated menacing and criminal damaging after allegedly smashing a car window and making threats against his ex-girlfriend and her supervisor at The Foundry, a workplace located on Filbert Street.
According to a report from the Elyria Police Department, officers responded around 12:30 p.m. to a call about a man smashing car windows and making threats. The suspect, identified as Mayo, had reportedly sent threatening text messages to his ex-girlfriend earlier that day, including warnings to shoot her and her supervisor. He then showed up at her place of employment, entered the building, and made verbal threats.
Witnesses told officers that Mayo was intoxicated and aggressive. Surveillance video reportedly showed him smashing the rear window of a black Kia sedan before entering the facility. Inside, he allegedly asked for the supervisor by name and repeated his threats in front of staff and a witness, James Rodriguez, who corroborated the victim’s account.
Officers located Mayo nearby on Gateway Boulevard and arrested him without incident. As they approached him, Mayo allegedly shouted, “Hey [redacted to protect victim], you better stay away from my bitch before I shoot you.
Mayo was transported to the Lorain County Jail, where he is being held without bond pending his initial court appearance. Police also advised the victim to seek a protection order, and the workplace has since trespassed Mayo from the property. Mayo is scheduled to appear in Elyria Municipal Court for a bond hearing before Judge Gary C. Bennett on July 2, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
This incident remains under investigation.
