CARLISLE TOWNSHIP — A Carlisle Township man is facing multiple felony charges after a search by Elyria police and local drug enforcement agencies uncovered crack cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, a firearm, and cash inside his residence.
The Elyria Police Department’s Narcotics Unit, Investigative Unit, and Neighborhood Impact Unit, working with the Lorain County Drug Task Force, executed a residential search warrant Friday morning in the 41000 block of Oberlin-Elyria Road. The operation was part of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug trafficking.
Inside the home, officers located approximately 2.3 ounces of crack cocaine, nearly 22 ounces of marijuana, 6.6 grams of methamphetamine in pill form, and 3 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. They also recovered a loaded Taurus 740 semi-automatic handgun and a substantial amount of U.S. currency.
Deandre Epps, 33, was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Lorain County Jail, where he remains held without bond pending arraignment.
In a statement, Elyria Police Chief James Welsh said the operation demonstrates the department’s dedication to combating illegal drug activity. “This investigation highlights the commitment of the Elyria Police Department and our local partners to removing dangerous narcotics and illegally possessed weapons from our community,” Welsh said.
Epps is facing a total of ten charges:
- Trafficking in Drugs (Cocaine), a first-degree felony
- Trafficking in Drugs with Juvenile Specification (Marijuana), a third-degree felony
- Possession of Cocaine, a first-degree felony
- Possession of Marijuana, a fifth-degree felony
- Possession of Methamphetamine, a third-degree felony
- Possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms, a fifth-degree felony
- Having Weapons While Under Disability, a third-degree felony
- Possessing Criminal Tools, a fifth-degree felony
- Endangering Children (two counts), both first-degree misdemeanors
