LORAIN — The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Jomar Perez, 21, of Lorain, in connection with the July 29 shooting death of Robert Willis, 28, of North Ridgeville.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Lorain County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Task Force and SWAT team executed search and arrest warrants early Monday morning at Perez’s Lorain apartment. Perez was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Lorain County Jail.
Deputies responded to reports of gunfire around 9:00 p.m. on July 29 near 1715 Meister Road in Lorain. They located Willis at the scene with gunshot wounds and called EMS. Willis was transported to Mercy Health – Lorain Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Detectives obtained arrest and search warrants after gathering evidence linking Perez to the shooting. Perez is charged with murder under Ohio Revised Code 2903.02, a first-degree felony, and is scheduled to be arraigned this week in Lorain Municipal Court.
