ELYRIA — Westwood Elementary School went into a brief lockdown Thursday afternoon after a reported domestic violence incident in the school’s parking lot, where school officials say a weapon was found inside a vehicle.
According to information provided by the district, school administrators contacted 911 after receiving the report and first initiated a lockout, which later escalated to a full lockdown as more details came in. The safety procedures remained in effect for approximately 25 minutes.
The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that one individual was arrested in the school’s parking lot. However, law enforcement has not yet verified whether a weapon was recovered.
