An Elyria woman has been charged with felonious assault following an incident that left another woman bleeding from the head.
Police say 40-year-old Angel Witherspoon was involved in a dispute at a home on Bath Street on September 11, 2025. Witnesses told officers the argument escalated, and Witherspoon allegedly shoved the victim, causing her to fall down a set of concrete porch stairs.
When officers arrived, they observed a large amount of blood on the right side of the victim’s head and chest, as well as blood drops across the staircase. The woman reported severe head pain but declined an ambulance ride, instead later transporting herself to University Hospitals for treatment.
Witness statements varied, but multiple people on scene identified Witherspoon as the person involved. Police confirmed her identity and issued a warrant for felonious assault.
Witherspoon turned herself in to Elyria Police on September 14 and was booked into the Lorain County Jail, where she remains held without bond pending court proceedings.
