LORAIN — Voters approved both renewal levies for the Lorain City School District in the November 4 general election, ensuring continued funding for classroom operations, student services, and academic programs without raising taxes.
According to unofficial results from the Lorain County Board of Elections, Issue 21 and Issue 22 each passed comfortably with majority support.
Issue 21, a renewal of the district’s current expenses levy, will maintain funding for day-to-day operations such as teacher salaries, classroom materials, and utilities. It received 3,201 votes for the tax levy (56.98%) and 2,417 votes against (43.02%), for a total of 5,618 votes cast.
Issue 22, a renewal of the district’s emergency requirements levy, will continue supporting essential programs and student services. It passed with 3,186 votes for the tax levy (56.89%) and 2,414 votes against (43.11%), totaling 5,600 votes cast.
Superintendent Jeff Graham previously explained that both measures are renewals rather than new taxes and are vital to sustaining the district’s operations. He thanked residents for their continued support of Lorain schools.
“These renewals are essential for the daily operation of our schools,” Graham said in an earlier district statement. “They allow us to continue the important work happening in our classrooms every day.”
District officials said the approval of both measures provides stability as Lorain City Schools continues efforts to strengthen academic programs and maintain fiscal responsibility.
