Elyria Police Arrest One, Issue Warrants for Two After Apartment Complex Shooting

ELYRIA, Ohio — One person has been arrested and two others are facing charges following a shooting and altercation at an Elyria apartment complex that left three men injured, according to police.

The incident occurred March 21 at approximately 4:55 p.m. at Midview Crossing Apartments, located at 1864 Middle Avenue. Elyria Police Department officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a firearm.

When officers arrived, they found three adult males suffering from injuries. One individual had been shot, while the other two had injuries consistent with a physical altercation. All three were transported by ambulance to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. Police said the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

According to investigators, the incident began as a confrontation involving multiple individuals in the parking lot of the complex. During that altercation, a firearm was discharged, and one person was struck.

Detectives conducted interviews and reviewed surveillance footage, which police say supported the sequence of events gathered during the investigation. Police have not released details about what led to the confrontation or what sparked the dispute.

As a result of the investigation, William Jaworske was arrested and charged with aggravated riot, a fourth-degree felony, and assault, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Charges have also been filed against Elisha Witherspoon and Isaiah Reddick for the same offenses. Police say warrants have been issued for both individuals. It is not known at this time whether they have been taken into custody.

Police have not released the identities of the injured individuals or clarified whether those injured are the same individuals facing charges.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be filed pending review by a grand jury.
