Elyria High Lockdown Issued After Threat Student Flees and Is Captured by Police

ELYRIA — Elyria High School was placed on lockdown Thursday after a reported threat involving a student prompted a police response, according to the Elyria Police Department.

Police said a School Resource Officer received information around 11:55 a.m. regarding a potential threat involving a high school student. The officer responded immediately and located the student inside the school gymnasium.

Upon contact, the student fled but was quickly apprehended by responding officers.

The school was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure while officers secured the situation. Authorities said all students and staff are safe, and there is no ongoing threat to the school community.

Patrol officers and detectives remained on scene following the incident and continue to investigate. Additional information has not been released at this time.

It is not known what specific threat was reported or whether any charges have been filed.
