LORAIN — Fire crews responded to a heavily involved house fire on the city’s south side, where crews were able to quickly bring the blaze under control and prevent further spread.
According to the Lorain Fire Department, suppression crews initiated a transitional attack upon arrival. That strategy allowed firefighters to rapidly knock down the bulk of the fire before moving in for interior operations.
All occupants inside the home were able to escape safely, and no injuries to residents have been reported at this time.
However, officials confirmed that two dogs died in the fire.

The displaced residents are now receiving assistance from the American Red Cross along with All Call Charities, which are helping provide immediate support following the incident.
The cause of the fire has not been released and remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the family as they recover from this loss.
