LORAIN COUNTY – Former Ohio state senator, North Ridgeville mayor and current Lorain County administrator Jeff Armbruster has died, according to a statement released Friday by the Lorain County Republican Party on its Facebook page.
In the statement, Lorain County Republican Party Chairman Bob Meilander remembered Armbruster not only for his years in public office, but for his personality, friendships and willingness to help others.
“Jeff was the kind of person people enjoyed being around,” the statement read in part. “He valued friendship, cared deeply for others, and made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.”
Armbruster served as mayor of North Ridgeville before representing Lorain County and surrounding communities in the Ohio Senate from 1999 to 2006. More recently, he served as Lorain County administrator, a position he held until health issues forced him away from day-to-day duties.
Meilander described Armbruster as a devoted public servant whose legacy extended beyond politics through the lives he touched as a husband, friend and colleague.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time,” the statement said.
Additional details were not immediately available Friday evening.
