COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office will receive a new six-passenger low-speed vehicle to help deputies respond to emergencies at the Lorain County Fair and other community events.
The Columbia Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4003 donated $18,000 toward the purchase of the vehicle during a presentation Wednesday, Aug. 19.
According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle will be used to respond to emergencies at events where large crowds can make access with traditional vehicles difficult.
The donation was presented during a visit to the new Columbia Eagles Hall.

In addition to the money for the vehicle, the Columbia Eagles Women’s Auxiliary donated $5,000 to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Unit.
The two donations totaled $23,000 in support for the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said the vehicle will provide deputies with another way to move through crowded areas and reach emergencies during the Lorain County Fair and other community events.
