ELYRIA, Ohio — A body believed to be 16-year-old Vincent Pabon was found Saturday afternoon in the Black River behind the Elyria Police Department, according to on-scene observations and statements from those assisting in the search. Officials have not yet confirmed the identity or cause of death.
A person identifying themselves as a family member posted online that the body had been found and asked the public for respect and privacy during this time.
Pabon was last seen early Thursday with 24-year-old Jacob Rosado, who told police the teen fell into the river near East Falls Riverwalk and did not resurface. Search efforts since Thursday have included dive teams, sonar, drones, and boats.
Rosado is charged with tampering with evidence and contributing to the unruliness of a minor. His bond is set at $100,000, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 14. He has not been convicted of these charges.
Police closed off access to the roadway near the police department during the recovery. Witnesses reported divers on standby, though it was unclear if they entered the water.
This is a developing story. Official confirmation from the coroner and law enforcement is pending.
