Car vs. Train Crash on Route 511 Sends Two to Hospital, Charges Pending

Wellington, Ohio — Emergency crews responded to a vehicle-train collision near the intersection of State Route 511 and Peck Wadsworth Road on Monday night. The incident involved a passenger vehicle and a moving train. Authorities say the passenger, a male, was injured and transported for medical treatment. The female driver was also taken to the hospital and is reportedly under the influence.

The crash, which was not head-on, did not result in the train stopping immediately. The train continued to its next scheduled stop to assess for possible damage.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP), the driver turned herself in at the Wellington Police Department following the crash. OSP is investigating and has confirmed that charges are pending. Troopers are also evaluating the scene for any potential hazmat concerns.

Despite reports of possible broken ribs, both individuals involved in the vehicle were able to walk away from the crash before being treated. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and fire crews assisted at the scene.
