LORAIN, OHIO — Under clear blue skies, community members filled the sidewalks along Broadway Avenue on Monday, May 26, to honor fallen service members at the annual Lorain Memorial Day Parade.
The procession featured a mix of classic and contemporary elements, including local school marching bands, civic organizations, and public safety displays. The Lorain High School Titans Marching Band led a musical tribute, stepping in unison beneath the “Lorain, OH Broadway” arch downtown. Students and volunteers waved American flags and saluted veterans along the route.
Vehicles in the lineup ranged from a bright red Corvette to tactical trucks operated by the Lorain Police SWAT team, which drew attention from kids and adults alike. Community leaders, including a group supporting Mayor Jack Bradley, marched with a banner reading “Moving Forward,” followed by local youth organizations in coordinated shirts.
Families gathered curbside, some seated in lawn chairs and others standing in reverent silence as uniformed veterans passed. From color guard displays to bagpipers in full dress, the event served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by service members from Lorain and beyond.
This year’s parade reinforced its long-standing role as both a solemn remembrance and a celebration of civic pride. As the final units marched past, applause broke out among the crowd—many holding small flags or wearing patriotic attire in support.
The Memorial Day Parade is one of Lorain’s most visible annual events and continues to bring generations together to reflect, remember, and honor.
