Elyria City Schools is mourning the loss of a third-grade student from Hamilton Elementary School following a brief illness, according to a statement shared by the district.

The student, Brian Correa, passed away over the weekend. District officials described him as a cherished member of the Hamilton Elementary community.
Brian’s teacher remembered him as kind, loving, intelligent, and humble. He began his education at Elyria’s Early Childhood Village in preschool and continued to flourish at Hamilton Elementary School, where he had attended since kindergarten.
The loss has deeply affected students and staff at the school. To support those impacted, the Lorain County Crisis Team will be present at Hamilton Elementary School on Monday to provide comfort and assistance as students and staff process their grief.

In a message shared publicly, Elyria City Schools extended its deepest condolences to Brian’s family, noting that the district holds them close in its thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
