The Elyria Police Department raided an unlicensed dispensary on April 25, 2025. Officers executed a search warrant at Exotic Flower, located at 1600 Middle Avenue in Elyria. This marks the first investigation of its kind in Lorain County.
During the raid, detectives found several pounds of marijuana, a handgun with an extended magazine, suspected psilocybin mushrooms, and U.S. currency. Psilocybin is considered a Schedule I controlled substance.
Police identified Brittany Jackson, 32, of Lorain, as the operator of Exotic Flower. She now faces several felony charges. These include trafficking in psilocybin with a school zone specification over a bulk amount, trafficking in marijuana with a school zone specification, and two counts of drug possession. The trafficking charges are classified as Felony 2 offenses, while the possession charges are Felony 3.
Investigators also found that Jackson had an outstanding bench warrant for her arrest in an unrelated case involving drug paraphernalia.
Police Chief James Welsh stated that operating an unlicensed dispensary is seen as drug trafficking and said it would not be tolerated in Elyria. He emphasized that the department will continue to target anyone involved in selling illegal drugs in the community.
