ELYRIA — A reported disturbance at an Elyria apartment complex Monday night led to a police investigation and the arrest of a 19-year-old man on multiple felony charges.
According to an Elyria Police Department report, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:33 p.m. on May 11, 2026, to the 100 block of Park Meadow Drive. Dispatch advised that the suspect had already left the scene in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee prior to officers’ arrival.
Police identified the suspect as Joseph Mack, 19, of Elyria.
Investigators said the incident involved an alleged forced entry into an apartment during what police described as an ongoing domestic dispute between individuals known to each other.
According to the report, Mack allegedly pounded on and damaged the front door before forcing his way inside the residence. Once inside, police said he forced entry into a bathroom where two adult women and a one-year-old child had taken shelter while calling 911.
Authorities allege that Mack threatened one of the victims while displaying a handgun during the incident.
Mack fled the scene before officers arrived, according to police.
He was later located and arrested at approximately 8:10 p.m. on May 12, 2026, in the 2400 block of Saratoga Avenue in Cleveland with assistance from the Cleveland Division of Police. Authorities said he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lorain County Jail.
Jail records show Mack is being held on a total bond of $70,000 and is classified as a maximum-security inmate. Charges listed include aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, along with two counts of aggravated menacing and one count of domestic violence.
Court records indicate appearances were scheduled for May 13 and May 14, 2026, in Elyria Municipal Court.
The incident remains under investigation.
