Elyria police arrested 32-year-old Leo Collins of Cleveland on November 6 following a violent domestic assault reported in the 500 block of Lake Avenue. Officers say Collins struck his live-in girlfriend multiple times in the face and head, and punched her in the back and rib cage, causing visible bruising and swelling.
The victim told officers the attack began while she was seated in a chair and that Collins had previously assaulted her in separate incidents, including one in a McDonald’s parking lot that resulted in broken teeth. She also alleged Collins once pointed a loaded handgun at her during an earlier dispute.
Police documented injuries and photographed the scene before taking Collins into custody without incident. Collins was transported to the Lorain County Jail, where he remains held without bond pending arraignment on charges of Domestic Violence (ORC 2919.25A, F4) and Assault (ORC 2903.13, M1).
