Elyria Man Dies After Being Struck by Two Vehicles in South Amherst

SOUTH AMHERST — A 28-year-old Elyria man died early Tuesday after being struck by two vehicles on State Route 113 in South Amherst, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the incident happened around 4:30 a.m. just west of Quarry Road. The man was walking eastbound in the westbound lanes when he was hit by a Ford Explorer and a Honda Civic traveling west.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his identity pending notification of family members.

Both drivers stopped and cooperated with investigators, and no charges have been filed at this time. The crash closed State Route 113 between Baumhart Road and Quarry Road for several hours but the road has since reopened.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
