ELYRIA, OH — A 6-year-old child was hospitalized earlier this year after ingesting THC-infused gummies, prompting a months-long investigation that has now led to criminal charges.
According to a press release issued by the Elyria Police Department, emergency crews were called to Tiny Town Childcare on Cleveland Street on February 26, 2025, after a child became lethargic, unresponsive, and showed signs of medical distress shortly after being dropped off.
The child was transported by LifeCare EMS to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, where tests revealed the presence of THC, the active component in marijuana, in the child’s system.
Detectives launched an investigation that revealed THC-infused gummies were accessible in the child’s home. Following their findings, the case was presented to the Lorain County Grand Jury on July 16, resulting in an indictment against Brian Tellier, 36, of Elyria.
Tellier faces two charges of Endangering Children, one a third-degree felony, the other a first-degree misdemeanor.
Elyria Police reminded residents of the dangers of improperly stored substances, particularly in homes with children.
