An Elyria man has been indicted on multiple felony charges after police say he carried out an armed robbery at the Kay Jewelers store in Chestnut Commons earlier this fall.

Brian M. Foster, 37, was arrested by Elyria police and booked into the Lorain County Jail on October 23 at 1:21 a.m. According to public court records, Foster has remained in custody since his arrest after a judge set bond at $750,000 cash or surety. He was ordered to have no contact and would be placed on GPS monitoring if released.
A Lorain County grand jury formally indicted Foster on December 4. The indictment includes four felony counts: aggravated robbery, grand theft, possession of criminal tools, and tampering with evidence. The two most serious charges — aggravated robbery and grand theft — both carry firearm specifications, which can add mandatory prison time if he is convicted.

Investigators allege Foster entered the jewelry store during business hours, displayed what appeared to be a black handgun, and ordered employees to open display cases. Several pieces of jewelry were taken before the suspect fled the store. Police later recovered a black BB gun believed to resemble the weapon used inside the store, along with pieces of stolen jewelry.
Court documents show the case originated in Elyria Municipal Court before it was transferred to Lorain County Common Pleas Court.
