Elyria Woman Arrested After Repeated Attempts to Kick In Door, Police Say

Elyria Police arrested a 32-year-old woman early Sunday morning after officers said she repeatedly kicked an apartment door in the 1100 block of East Avenue, causing visible damage.

According to the report, officers were called to the address around 5:11 a.m. on November 30, 2025, after a resident reported that a woman was outside his apartment kicking the door. Officers Taylor, Petsas, and Lieux arrived and identified the woman as Ashley Nichole Crook, who was still on scene.

The resident told officers that he and Crook had previously been in an intimate relationship. During that time, Crook became pregnant and claimed the child was his, but a DNA test later confirmed he was not the father. According to the report, the resident stated Crook continues to contact him because of this past relationship and would not leave him alone.

Police say the resident saw Crook kicking his apartment door, damaging it to the point it would no longer close or lock. Officers photographed the damage and submitted the images as evidence.

The report also notes that police had responded to the same address earlier that morning for a similar incident involving Crook attempting to kick the door, but she left before officers arrived. At that time, the resident declined to pursue charges.

During the second call, officers spoke with both parties. The resident told police Crook never entered the apartment but caused the visible damage. Crook was arrested at the scene for breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony under Ohio law, and transported to the Lorain County Jail, where she will remain held until her initial court appearance.
