Elyria Woman Previously Arrested for Twerking Now Struck With Pot in Apartment Brawl

ELYRIA — A 20-year-old Elyria woman previously arrested for underage drinking after twerking on parked cars is facing new criminal charges following a violent altercation inside a local apartment.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched to 310 Oberlin Road, Apartment 11, around 8:43 p.m. on June 13 for a reported fight involving multiple people. Upon arrival, they found Kniyah Danielle Carter outside the residence, holding a towel to her head and claiming she had been assaulted.

Witnesses told police that Carter had returned home intoxicated, in violation of house rules, and began arguing with other residents. The dispute escalated into a physical fight in the kitchen, where Carter and another woman, Grace Heckko, allegedly struck each other with household items. Heckko admitted to hitting Carter with a cooking pot during the struggle.

After speaking with those involved, officers identified Carter as the primary aggressor. She was charged with misdemeanor assault and transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center for treatment before being released with a summons.

The June 13 arrest follows Carter’s prior run-in with police on April 28, when officers responded to reports of a disruptive group on Portia Court. In that case, Carter was seen exiting a residence while carrying an open can of MXD Margarita and admitted to being underage. She was arrested and charged with a first-degree misdemeanor for underage alcohol consumption.

Carter has also been previously charged with simple assault in 2024 and has two contempt of court violations on record from earlier incidents.

No additional charges were filed in the June 13 case, and no other injuries were reported.
