AMHERST, Ohio — A 13-year-old is facing a felonious assault charge after a violent group attack at Grace Sprenger Memorial Park on Sunday, April 13. Four other teens, also between the ages of 13 and 15, have been charged with obstructing official business and unruly juvenile behavior in connection with the incident.
According to Amherst police, officers responded to reports of a fight at the park and found the injured victim at the scene. Several teens fled into nearby woods as police arrived. A drone was deployed to assist in locating the suspects, who were apprehended shortly afterward.
The teen charged with felonious assault is also facing charges for obstructing official business and being an unruly juvenile. All five suspects have been referred to the juvenile justice system. The name of the victim has not been released, and the extent of his injuries has not been made public.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing. The community has expressed concern over the nature of the incident, particularly given the young ages of those involved.
