He Asked for a Job — Then Pulled a Gun. What Happened Next Led Police Straight to Him: Convenience Store Robbery Leads to Swift Elyria Police Arrest

Elyria, Ohio — A 35-year-old Elyria man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred early Monday morning at the Convenient Food Mart on West Ridge Road.

According to Elyria police, officers responded to the store at 6:51 a.m. on April 7 after a suspect entered the business under the pretense of requesting a job application. He then brandished a handgun and demanded cash. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Investigators, with help from the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, tracked the suspect to an apartment on Ridge Circle. Officers searched the apartment and identified Christopher Morris as the suspect. Authorities recovered clothing matching surveillance footage, stolen currency, and a Glock-style pellet gun believed to be used in the crime.

Morris was charged with first-degree felony aggravated robbery and is being held at the Lorain County Jail pending arraignment.

Police praised their officers and the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office for a swift resolution to the case.
