Illinois Woman Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash in Henrietta Township

HENRIETTA TOWNSHIP — A tragic three-vehicle crash in Lorain County on Sunday afternoon left one woman dead and three others hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to the Elyria Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:25 p.m. on June 22, 2025, at the intersection of State Route 113 and Gore Orphanage Road in Henrietta Township.

Troopers report that Moriah Smith, 28, of Roselle, Illinois, was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion northbound on Gore Orphanage Road. As she attempted to turn left onto State Route 113, her vehicle failed to yield and was struck by an eastbound 2022 Freightliner driven by Aaron Fischer, 30, of Amherst.

The impact pushed the Freightliner into a westbound 2019 Cadillac XT5, driven by George Roberts, 78, of Grafton, resulting in a head-on collision. The Freightliner then veered off the left side of the roadway, striking a tree and coming to rest in a ditch.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. Fischer, Roberts, and Roberts’ passenger, Debra Fallon, 67, of Olmsted Township, were all transported to University Hospital – Elyria with serious injuries.

Responding agencies included the Florence Township Fire Department, Central Lorain County EMS, the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, and towing services from Interstate Towing, D and A Towing, and Vaughn’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
