Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers recorded 288 incidents in Lorain County during the Christmas holiday reporting period, placing the county among the busiest in Ohio for trooper activity, according to data released by OSHP.

The reporting window covered Dec. 24 through Dec. 28. Statewide, troopers documented 10,536 incidents during the five-day period.
The county totals reflect overall Highway Patrol activity, including traffic stops, calls for service and crash-related responses. The figures do not indicate the severity of incidents and are not limited to serious crashes.
OSHP data shows Lorain County ranked behind only Franklin, Auglaize and Wood counties in total activity during the holiday period.

Statewide, the Highway Patrol reported 17 traffic fatalities during the holiday window, up from the comparable 2024 period. The agency’s holiday summary also reported increased enforcement activity related to impaired driving, seat belt compliance and distracted driving.
The county-level map released by OSHP displays overall activity totals by county. Fatal crashes, when they occur, are marked separately by individual symbols on the map. The graphic does not indicate a traffic fatality in Lorain County during the holiday period.
With winter travel continuing beyond the holiday weekend, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said enforcement and response activity remains elevated as motorists return to regular travel patterns.
