ELYRIA — A Lorain man was arrested September 19 after Elyria police responded to a welfare check and said they found multiple controlled substances inside his vehicle.
According to the police report, Daniel A. Jackson, 29, was found in the driver’s seat of a Kia sedan parked at the Sheetz on Chestnut Ridge Road. Officers said Jackson appeared disoriented, with pinpoint pupils, slow speech, and difficulty standing, and was initially observed slumped at the wheel with a lit cigarette.
When officers attempted to verify warrants, Jackson allegedly refused to exit the vehicle and insisted he had done nothing wrong. Police conducted field sobriety tests, reporting that Jackson showed signs of impairment. He was taken into custody for OVI and transported to the Lorain County Jail.
A search of Jackson’s vehicle uncovered a plastic baggie of suspected fentanyl (1.9g), a baggie of suspected methamphetamine (1.6g), pills marked “B974,” a baggie with suspected cocaine residue, and multiple packets of Suboxone with Jackson’s name on the label. Police also documented the recovery of a THC vape pen.
Jackson was charged with possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine residue, as well as OVI. He is being held at the Lorain County Jail pending arraignment in Elyria Municipal Court.
