A Lorain man physically attacked multiple officers in a courtroom shortly after being sentenced to prison Thusday, prompting a new round of felony charges and injuring at least one deputy.
The incident occurred on June 12, 2025, in Lorain County Common Pleas Court, where 42-year-old Andrew N. Davison had just been sentenced to 15 to 20 years for attempted murder and related charges. According to court records and jail booking data, Davison became combative while being escorted from the courtroom and engaged in a violent struggle with several deputies.
One deputy reportedly sustained serious injuries during the altercation. The deputy, who had only recently joined the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, suffered broken ribs and a cracked sternum. The courtroom incident disrupted proceedings and required additional officers to regain control of the situation.
New felony charges were filed immediately following the attack. Booking records from the Lorain County Jail list four counts of felonious assault and one count of resisting arrest, stemming directly from the courtroom altercation. These charges appear under a separate case number in Elyria Municipal Court, though they will likely be consolidated with Davison’s existing felony case as proceedings continue.
Davison was previously convicted on multiple counts including aggravated robbery, felonious assault, and attempted murder. The initial indictment was filed in July 2024 following a violent incident that reportedly left a man with severe injuries to the face and head.
Since his arrest, Davison has represented himself for much of the court process, filing dozens of motions and discovery demands without legal counsel. He has also been subject to psychological evaluation. Court filings indicate he was found competent to stand trial in December 2024 after a forensic assessment.
The latest courtroom incident may affect Davison’s pending appeals and legal standing. A capias was issued earlier in the week for a witness who failed to appear for trial, and court records show both jury trials and hearings remain scheduled in connection with his ongoing cases.
Davison remains held without bond at the Lorain County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 26.
