SANDUSKY — A Lorain man has been charged with murder following a fatal incident that occurred early Friday morning in Sandusky, according to local authorities.
Sandusky police said officers were dispatched around 2 a.m. to the 1200 block of Central Avenue in Sandusky for a report of two men involved in an altercation in the street. According to Sandusky Police Chief Jared Oliver, witnesses reported that one of the men was seen standing over the other before entering a 2013 Cadillac Escalade parked in a nearby driveway.
Police allege that the man in the vehicle backed out of the driveway, entered Central Avenue, and struck the other man, who remained in the roadway. The man who was hit died at the scene. His identity has not been released as of Saturday.
The vehicle left the area following the incident. Investigators said they obtained the license plate number and later located the Escalade at a residence in Lorain.
Sandusky detectives, working in coordination with the Lorain Police Department, executed a search warrant at the Lorain residence on Friday. Authorities said the vehicle was recovered and 36-year-old Joshua P. Head of Lorain was arrested at the scene.
Head was transported to the Erie County Jail, where he is being held under a no-bond order. According to court records, he is scheduled for arraignment at 9 a.m. Monday in Sandusky Municipal Court.
