Lorain Man Dead, Cousin Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter After Shooting

LORAIN — A 24-year-old man was fatally shot early Thursday morning during what police described as an accidental shooting at a home near East 35th Street in Lorain.

Officers were dispatched around 8:40 a.m. after receiving a report that a man had been shot in the head. The incident occurred while individuals inside the residence were handling a firearm. Police instructed the suspect to exit the home with his hands raised and secured the scene while confirming the address.

The victim, identified as Savion Johnson, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene by LifeCare paramedics.

His cousin, Anthony D. Wilson, 22, of Lorain, was arrested and booked into the Lorain County Jail on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony. Jail records show Wilson was taken into custody at 5:59 p.m. on November 6, 2025, and is being held without bond pending a court appearance scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday in Lorain Municipal Court.

According to police, multiple legally owned firearms were recovered from the residence. The investigation remains ongoing.
