LORAIN — The City of Lorain is preparing for a series of leadership changes within the police department as Deputy Chief Michael Failing is set to be officially promoted to Chief of Police during the September 15 City Council meeting at 6 p.m.
Failing, who has been serving in his role since early June, will formally assume the position at the ceremony. His promotion creates a domino effect of advancement throughout the department, with several other officers also moving into new leadership roles:
- Patrolman Brian Andreas → Sergeant
- Sergeant Andrew Greszler → Lieutenant
- Lieutenant Timothy Thompson → Captain
- Captain A.J. Mathewson → Deputy Chief
These promotions are part of the police department’s internal civil service process and will take effect September 15, when Failing and his newly elevated officers are formally sworn in at the City Council meeting.
