Lorain Experiences Heavy Rain, Winds, and Fog Overnight
Lorain experienced significant rainfall and wind overnight, accompanied by dense fog that reduced visibility. Residents faced challenging weather conditions as the storm system moved through the region.
Weather Conditions:
Sustained winds of 25 MPH, coming from the west, affected the city. The combination of high humidity and these winds created a noticeable wind chill. Heavy rain fell throughout the night, leading to temporary street flooding in some areas.
Visibility and Travel:
Visibility at Lorain County Regional Airport (KLPR) dropped to three miles due to fog and mist, impacting local travel. The reduced visibility made driving conditions difficult.
Post-Storm Conditions:
Residents awoke to damp conditions and overcast skies. Power crews worked to address any reported outages, and cleanup efforts began.
Regional Context:
While other parts of the Midwest reported severe wind damage and large hail, Lorain’s primary weather challenges were heavy rain and fog. The observed humidity of 89% and a dew point of 48°F contributed to the dense fog.
