ELYRIA TOWNSHIP, OHIO — The Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC), along with the Ohio Investigative Unit and the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, executed search warrants at two Elyria Township businesses on Thursday as part of an illegal gambling investigation.
Agents seized gaming machines from MAHD House Bar & Grille, located at 41573 North Ridge Road, and Jackpot Enterprises, located at 41951 North Ridge Road. The enforcement action followed complaints that the establishments were operating gaming machines in violation of Ohio law.
No criminal charges had been filed in connection with the raids as of Friday, according to Elyria Municipal Court and Lorain County Common Pleas Court records.
At MAHD House, three gaming machines were removed by authorities. The owner confirmed that the business had been previously notified of a violation in October 2024. According to statements provided to local media, the machines had been installed under the belief that they were compliant with legal standards.
The Ohio Casino Control Commission stated that it has conducted similar enforcement actions at more than 165 locations across the state, resulting in the seizure or disabling of more than 7,200 illegal slot machines. The agency emphasized that these operations are intended to uphold state gaming laws and protect local communities.
No representatives from Jackpot Enterprises were available for comment at the time of publication.
The investigation into the Elyria Township locations remains ongoing.
