Marta’s N More Brings Donuts, French Pastries and Heart to Downtown Lorain

Downtown Lorain has a new sweet spot, and it’s already drawing crowds. Marta’s N More, owned by Marta DeLeon, recently opened at the corner of Fourth Street and Broadway. The bakery offers a welcoming space filled with donuts, pastries, and fresh coffee.

Marta DeLeon’s path to entrepreneurship began 25 years ago, when she started dipping caramel apples in her home kitchen and selling them at craft fairs. She kept her full-time job while gradually expanding into cookies and cottage baking, slowly building a customer base. For 15 years she worked at Mercy Hospital, but as a single mother, she felt the pull toward something more fulfilling.

That leap led to Marta’s N More. After seven years at her previous Broadway location, DeLeon moved the bakery into its new downtown space in August 2025. She now operates the shop Fridays and Saturdays, with a special Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. offering four rotating menu items.

Her menu reflects not only her roots but also her ambition. DeLeon spent three months in France studying traditional French pastries. Today her cases feature flaky croissants, éclairs, and other delicacies alongside donuts and local favorites. The shop has quickly become known for both its flavors and its atmosphere, where customers are greeted with smiles and encouraged to sit down, talk, and enjoy.

Running a small business in Lorain comes with challenges, and DeLeon is quick to point out that only a handful of independent shops remain. “It’s hard to be a small business here,” she said, stressing the importance of supporting not just her bakery, but others downtown as well.

Now entering her seventh year, DeLeon is determined to make this her strongest yet. Marta’s N More is not only a bakery, it is a symbol of persistence, community, and the sweet rewards of following a dream.
