Ohio Turnpike Toll Rates Set to Increase January 1, 2026

BEREA — Toll rates on the Ohio Turnpike will increase by 2.7 percent beginning January 1, 2026, continuing a multi-year schedule of toll adjustments approved by the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission.

According to the Commission, E-ZPass customers will continue to receive discounted rates compared to motorists who pay by cash or credit card.

For passenger vehicles classified as Class 1, the E-ZPass toll rate will rise from 7.1 cents per mile in 2025 to 7.3 cents per mile in 2026. Cash and credit card users will see rates increase from 10.4 cents per mile to 10.6 cents per mile.

Commercial vehicles classified as Class 5 will see E-ZPass rates increase from 22 cents per mile to 22.6 cents per mile. Cash and credit card rates for those vehicles will rise from 27.6 cents per mile to 28.4 cents per mile.

For drivers traveling the full length of the Ohio Turnpike westbound from Pennsylvania to Indiana, the total toll in 2026 will be $19 for E-ZPass passenger vehicles, an increase of 50 cents from 2025. Passenger vehicles paying by cash or credit card will pay $27.75, up 75 cents.

Commercial vehicles traveling westbound will pay $58.75 with E-ZPass, an increase of $1.25, while cash or credit card customers will pay $74, up $1.75.

Eastbound full-length travel from Indiana to Pennsylvania will cost E-ZPass passenger vehicle drivers $16 in 2026, also a 50-cent increase. Cash and credit card passenger vehicle tolls will rise to $23.50. Commercial vehicle tolls eastbound will increase to $49.75 with E-ZPass and $62.75 for cash or credit card users.

The Commission noted that all westbound travelers passing through the Eastgate Toll Plaza near the Ohio-Pennsylvania border pay a flat, round-trip toll, while eastbound travelers do not pay a toll at that location.

Officials said the toll increase is part of a long-term financial plan designed to cover operating costs, debt service, and capital improvement projects. The Ohio Turnpike operates without state tax dollars and relies primarily on toll revenue to maintain roadways, bridges, and related infrastructure.

The toll schedule for 2024 through 2028 was approved by the Commission in April 2023 following three public hearings held earlier that year.

The Ohio Turnpike states that its toll rates remain among the lowest in the nation and that E-ZPass users save an average of 33 percent compared to drivers who pay by cash or credit card.

More information on the approved toll schedule is available through the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission.
