CARLISLE TOWNSHIP — An elderly woman died Friday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash in Carlisle Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred just before 1:30 p.m. along State Route 301.
A preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser pulled out of a private driveway and began traveling north on State Route 301. Investigators said a 2025 Ford F-350 traveling behind the Chrysler attempted to pass on the left at the same time the Chrysler driver was turning left, leading to a collision.
The Ford struck the Chrysler, forcing both vehicles off the side of the roadway, troopers said.

The Chrysler driver, a 63-year-old man from Burbank, was taken to UH Elyria Hospital with serious injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, 71-year-old Elaine Patterson of Burbank, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the patrol.
The driver of the Ford, a 46-year-old man from Wellington, suffered minor injuries. A passenger in the pickup truck was not injured.
Troopers said everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt at the time.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
