Police Arrest Suspect in Lorain Robbery Attempt After Witness Steps Forward

LORAIN — Lorain police arrested a man Monday after responding to a reported robbery at Kennedy Plaza on Broadway Avenue.

According to a police report, officers were called to the 1700 block of Broadway around 4:45 p.m. on August 18 after a man reported being assaulted in the rear parking lot of the complex.

Investigators said 34-year-old Deandrey Dayshown Hudson approached the victim, punched him several times in the face, and tried to take personal items from his pockets before leaving the scene. The victim suffered minor injuries and was evaluated by LifeCare paramedics but declined further treatment.

A nearby witness told police the assault appeared unprovoked and provided a written statement. Officers located Hudson at his apartment within the Kennedy Plaza complex and placed him under arrest without incident. Both the victim and the witness identified Hudson at the scene.

Hudson was taken to the Lorain County Jail and is facing one count of robbery under Ohio Revised Code 2911.02(A)(2), which involves attempting or causing physical harm during an alleged theft. Security management at Kennedy Plaza is working with investigators to review surveillance footage from the area.

Police have not released additional details as the investigation remains ongoing.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
