Police: Elyria Man Admits to Striking Woman in Head During Bloody Domestic Incident

An Elyria man is facing felony charges after police say he struck a woman during an argument, leaving her with a head injury.

Officers were called to the 200 block of Frances Boulevard on September 11, 2025, where they found a woman bleeding from the head. Witnesses reported a heated dispute had taken place inside the home.

Police identified the suspect as Barry Rubin, 56, of Elyria. According to the report, Rubin admitted to striking the woman, telling officers, “I smacked her in the head,” and later added, “I didn’t even hit her. I slapped the back of her head.” He also remarked, “Am I in trouble for the door too?” when asked about property damage inside the residence.

Rubin was arrested and charged with domestic violence (F3) and assault (M1). He was taken to the Lorain County Jail, where he remains held pending a court appearance.
