Police Investigate Possible Shootout After Man Shot in Lorain

LORAIN — Police are investigating a possible shootout after a man was shot in the leg during an incident on Homewood Avenue, according to initial information from officers on scene.

Officers responded to the area and located at least two shell casings, indicating that shots were fired. The victim’s condition is not known at this time.

Initial information suggests there may have been an exchange of gunfire during the incident, though that has not been officially confirmed.

Officers also reviewed surveillance video from a nearby residence in the 3100 block of Homewood, which appears to show multiple individuals involved.

According to observations at the scene, the footage shows a male wearing a red shirt, believed to be the shooter, along with a female wearing a black shirt. Both individuals were seen running from the area following the incident.

Initial details indicate the video may show the suspect firing additional rounds while fleeing on Homewood.

A witness at the scene reported that the suspected shooter may go by the name “Gringo” and is believed to be from Philadelphia. That information has not been confirmed by police.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have been announced.
