ELYRIA — An Elyria traffic stop early Sunday morning led to drug-related charges after police said officers discovered suspected crack cocaine hidden inside a child’s toy vehicle.
According to an Elyria Police Department report, officers stopped a vehicle around 2:37 a.m. Sunday, May 10, near Griswold Road and Tillotson Street for an active warrant through Lorain Police.
Police identified the driver as Jaylen Redman and the passenger as Clinton Jackson. Officers said Redman had an active warrant through the Lorain County Jail and advised him he would be placed under arrest.
According to the report, officers removed Redman from the vehicle and conducted a search incident to arrest. Police said a crack cocaine pipe was found wedged in the area near the driver’s seat.
The report states officers also observed a child inside the vehicle. Police said Redman advised the child’s mother was on her way to pick up the child.

During a search of the vehicle, officers reported finding a toy vehicle in the back seat area. According to police, suspected crack cocaine was discovered hidden inside the toy.
Police said both Redman and Jackson were advised of their Miranda rights. Jackson was charged with drug paraphernalia possession after police alleged the crack cocaine pipe was within his reach inside the vehicle.
Redman was charged with possession of cocaine and driving under suspension, according to the report.
Police said Redman was transported to the Lorain County Jail and held pending a court appearance. Jackson was transferred into the custody of the Lorain Police Department.
