AMHERST — Multiple residents reported a widespread power outage in Amherst Friday evening after a vehicle reportedly struck a utility pole near Route 58 and Cooper Foster Park Road.
According to community posts, the crash occurred around 7:30 p.m., knocking out power to businesses and neighborhoods along Route 58, Rock Creek Run, and Cleveland Avenue. Residents also reported hearing sirens near Northridge and seeing a transformer blow following the impact.
Dispatch audio shared online indicated that emergency crews were dispatched to the scene for a “car versus transformer pole” crash near the intersection of Cooper Foster Park Road and Leavitt Road. The extent of any injuries has not yet been confirmed.
Power was reported out as far north as North Ridge Road and west toward Jackson Street. Crews were reportedly responding to restore service.
