Quick-Thinking Tow Driver Aids Amherst Car Rescue

A man trapped beneath a vehicle in Amherst was rescued thanks to the swift response of a local tow truck driver, LifeCare Ambulance, and Amherst fire and police.

While Amherst fire personnel were still en route to the scene, a tow truck operator who works with both Vaughn’s Towing and D&A Towing, heard the call come through dispatch and responded immediately.

Henline arrived on scene at the same time as LifeCare Ambulance and quickly used his tow truck to lift the vehicle just enough for paramedics and officers to pull the victim out.

The man was then placed in a LifeCare ambulance, where Amherst firefighters assisted with emergency care before he was transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. Officials reported that the man was in stable condition upon arrival.

Amherst Fire Chief Jim Dimacchia later acknowledged the critical role Henline and the towing company played in the successful rescue, calling it a reflection of the community’s strong emergency support network.
