Lieutenant Aaron Bober passed away Friday after experiencing a medical emergency while on duty, according to a public statement issued by the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to the officer’s family, friends, and coworkers, noting his service both to Sheffield Village and to Lorain County. In addition to his role with Sheffield Village Police, he also served as a deputy sheriff assigned to the Northern Border Initiative.

After the medical emergency, the Lorain Police Department temporarily assumed patrol duties in Sheffield Village. Late Friday night, law-enforcement agencies and community officials across Lorain County began updating their profile photos to display the Sheffield Village Police badge with a mourning band. Agencies posting the image included Lorain County 9-1-1, the Lorain County Deputies Association, the local Fraternal Order of Police, and several public officials, signaling a broad show of respect within the law-enforcement community.
