LORAIN, OH — Emergency crews in Lorain responded to two unrelated incidents that occurred within minutes of each other Friday night, stretching police, fire, and EMS resources across the city’s west side.
Shortly before 10 p.m., Lorain police were dispatched to West Erie Avenue for reports of a stabbing. According to scanner traffic, multiple weapons may have been involved, including a knife and possibly a firearm. Before officers arrived on scene, a female victim reportedly arrived at Mercy Health – Lorain Hospital with a stab wound. Her condition has not been released, and no official details have been provided regarding a suspect or motive.
While police were responding to that incident, firefighters and EMS were dispatched to the 300 block of Colorado Avenue for a separate emergency involving a single-vehicle crash. An SUV had collided with a utility pole, causing a transformer to blow and spark a fire. Power outages and flickering lights were reported by residents in the surrounding area. The driver was reported unresponsive at the time of the call. Their current status has not been confirmed.
The simultaneous incidents caused widespread confusion, especially among attendees at the nearby Rockin’ on the River event. Some reported hearing a loud crash and believed gunshots may have been involved. However, event organizers and festivalgoers later confirmed that the event remained safe and was not connected to either emergency.
There is no indication that the two incidents are related. Both remain under active investigation, and no arrests or further updates had been announced by Saturday morning.
Lorain Daily will continue to follow both stories and provide updates as more information is released by officials.
