LORAIN, OHIO — The woman involved in Tuesday’s shooting, vehicle pursuit, and standoff at Lorain City Hall has been identified as Jenna Comings, 43, of Lorain.
Comings was booked into the Lorain County Jail late Tuesday night and is being held on a $500,000 cash/surety bond. She is facing multiple charges stemming from the events of April 22, including a felony count of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or school safety zone, tampering with evidence, operating a vehicle while impaired, reckless operation, fleeing, and additional misdemeanors.
Reports of gunfire came in around 2:30 p.m. near 30th Street and Tressa Avenue. Shell casings were recovered from the scene, and a lookout was issued for a silver or gray van. A vehicle matching that description was later pursued through various parts of Lorain, including Jaeger Road, Kolbe Road, and West Erie Avenue.
The pursuit ended at Lorain City Hall. According to available information, the woman exited her vehicle with a knife and was taken into custody after a brief standoff. A nearby school was placed on lockdown during the incident, and emergency crews were staged in the area as a precaution.
Jenna Comings is scheduled to appear in Lorain Municipal Court on April 23 and again on May 1. She remains classified as a minimum-security inmate at the Lorain County Jail.
This is a developing story. Lorain Daily will continue to report updates as court proceedings move forward and more details become available.
