Elyria — Three people were taken into custody Thursday after Elyria police executed a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Hodge Court as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
According to a press release issued Friday by the Elyria Police Department, the operation was conducted by the agency’s Special Response Team along with its Narcotics and Investigative Units. The search warrant was authorized by the Lorain County Common Pleas Court.
Detectives reported finding suspected heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine, Xanax, drug paraphernalia, and cash during the search. Police said all three suspects also had active warrants through other agencies and were booked into the Lorain County Jail without bond pending their initial court appearances.
Those arrested were identified as:
- Tyrell Hicks, 32, charged with trafficking in heroin, methamphetamine, and Xanax with school zone specifications (felonies of the third and fourth degree), possession of controlled substances (fourth- and fifth-degree felonies), and possession of drug paraphernalia (a fourth-degree misdemeanor).
- Carla Polk, 32, charged with possession of fentanyl (a fifth-degree felony) and permitting drug abuse (a first-degree misdemeanor).
- Lauren Wood, 23, charged with possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl (both fifth-degree felonies).
Police Chief James P. Welsh said the case highlights the importance of coordination among specialized units and cooperation with the community.
“This operation reflects the dedication and coordination of our specialized units, and the importance of strong community partnerships,” Welsh said in a statement. “We rely on the public’s support to help us identify and disrupt drug activity, and we encourage residents to report suspected drug activity so we can continue working together to keep Elyria safe.”
