Elyria police arrested two women on September 12 at the Walmart on Chestnut Commons Drive after a theft complaint led to the discovery of fentanyl, crack cocaine, and other narcotics.
Police identified the suspects as Karlee Clark, 28, of Grafton, and Carrie Pettry, 37, of Elyria. Both were taken into custody on multiple charges and were already wanted on outstanding warrants.
According to the report, officers found stolen merchandise along with digital scales, glass pipes, and baggies of drugs packaged in a manner police described as consistent with trafficking. Field tests confirmed the presence of fentanyl and crack cocaine.
Clark faces charges of trafficking in drugs, multiple counts of drug possession, theft, possessing drug paraphernalia, obstructing official business, and failure to comply. Pettry faces charges of possession of controlled substances, possessing drug paraphernalia, theft, and contempt of court.
Clark reportedly told officers she had swallowed heroin as they arrived. She was transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center before being booked into the Lorain County Jail. Pettry was taken directly to the jail.
Police said both women remain held without bond pending court appearances. The arrests were captured on officers’ body cameras.
