Victims Identified in Lorain Double Death Investigation

LORAIN, OH — Authorities have released the names of two individuals found dead inside a Lorain residence on Saturday night.

According to the Lorain Police Department, officers were dispatched to 215 West 29th Street at approximately 10:01 p.m. on May 31, 2025, to conduct a welfare check requested by concerned family members. Upon arrival, officers were provided a key and entered the home.

Inside the residence, police discovered 63-year-old Anthony Coonrod and 30-year-old Emily Simmons, both deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

Initial information gathered at the scene suggests the case may be a possible murder-suicide. Investigators have stated that no outside suspects are being sought at this time. The case remains under active investigation by the Lorain Police Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Lorain County Coroner’s Office.
