LORAIN — A 53-year-old man was transported to the hospital after a crash involving a motorcycle and a car on Saturday afternoon, according to a release from the Lorain Police Department.
Officers responded to the intersection of Broadway Avenue and West 34th Street around 1:58 p.m. on June 21. Upon arrival, police found a male who was unresponsive and suffering from serious injuries.
The injured man was identified as Juan Perez-Hernandez of Lorain. Lifecare EMS transported him to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. He was alive while being transported, but his current condition is unknown.
Police said the other vehicle involved was a Chevy Malibu driven by Valerie Dillard, 64, of Lorain. She was not reported injured.
A preliminary investigation determined that Dillard had been traveling northbound on Broadway and was attempting to make a left turn onto West 34th Street when her vehicle was struck by a southbound motorcycle driven by Perez-Hernandez.
The Lorain Police Department’s Traffic Bureau responded to the scene along with the Police Auxiliary, Lorain Fire Department, and Lifecare ambulance. The area was closed for about four hours while investigators processed the scene.
No citations or charges have been issued at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information related to the incident to contact the Lorain Police Department Traffic Bureau at 440-204-2115.
